Charcoal for Shisha / Hookah

The Hookah

   Since the 1600's the Hookah has been a key part of Arabic culture and tradition. Today it remains a key part of the sharing with others whether, after Friday prayers, at a home gathering or with tea at a hookah parlour.    Several individual or hookahs with 2, 3 and 4 hoses provide points of discussion and relaxation at parties or any small get-together. When any smoker finishes, either the hose is returned to the table showing it is available, or handed to the next user, folded back on itself so that the mouthpiece is not pointing at the recipient.

Hookah Parts

Bowl or Head
– this holds the fuel (charcoal or coal) and tobacco or herbal molasses. The lit fuel sits on top of perforated aluminium foil to properly heat the tobacco or herbal molasses. The smoke is drawn down the bowl and into the hookah. Some bowls accommodate the mixing of shisha tobacco or herbal molasses through design or by connecting multiple bowls.
Hose
– the users personal connection to the hookah the smoke is inhaled through. Its length and sometimes iced inserts cool the smoke. The type of mouthpiece varies based on user preferences.

Water Vase
– contains water that the smoke passes through as it is cooled and humidified.

Charcoal
– the heat source to vapourize the tobacco molasses in the bowl. The heat needed to reach these high boiling points typically requires hard high density charcoal. Consistent heat extended throughout the smoke also makes hard high density charcoal desirable.
– instant burn charcoal can be very convenient as long as the user allows the additive that allows this speed to burn off.
– charcoal without the instant burn is naturally cleaner requiring an external heat source such as flames or an electric starter that takes about 3 minutes.

Tobacco or Herbal Shisha
– a sweet mixture which introduces the desired honeyed flavour to the smoke.

Wind Screen
– covers the bowl area while allowing air in a way that protects a consistent burn rate and temperature. It also protects users from embers and ash spills or bumps.

Plate
– it catches any, spills, ashes or embers from the bowl.

Valve
– allows the stale air in the water vase to be purged via a ball bearing that gravity keeps closed until the hose is blown into.

Foil
– hookah foil has 2 unique characteristics;
 • it is 20 microns thick as opposed to 16 micron standard aluminium foil and 23.6 micron heavy duty aluminium foil - assuming the other foils are made by a manufacturer who is willing to consistently meet these accepted standards.
 • it is pre punched with the holes at appropriate locations.
  The consistent thickness and spacing of the holes work to help deliver an even heat to help your Hookah enjoyment.

Orders & Processing...

     While orders come in from around the world, as gifts for shipment to family and friends in Canada, only orders for shipment to Canadian destinations are accepted.

     Your purchase arriving as quickly as possible is a number one priority.

     COVID-19 has dramtiaclly impacted the shipping of orders. Local shipments no longer benfit from shipping options pre COVID19. Simply put delivery drivers are just not predictably available and those available demand payment many times higher than in the past. The same is an issue for provincial and national shipments. The economic reality of higher shipping costs and higher purchasing costs, is that orders requiring shipment of less than $50 can no longer be processed. Passing those costs on by raising prices is just to dramatic and unreasonable for the many customers coming into the store to pay. Effective April 13th, 2020 our freight policy changed to:
Orders over $175 are $50
Orders over $100 are $35
Orders over $50 are $20
Local lower mainland delivery $50
Local Surrey delivery $30

Orders are processed this way because:
  • Your prices may be different than the prices shown on the web site because of things such as current exchange rates or special offers.
  • Assuring freshness may mean advising you of when the next shipment is arriving.
  • The cost of shipping to remote and small Canadian communities; in a timely manner, to meet Canadian standards or weather issues, can be unpredictable.
  • Canada post allows centers on, Vancouver Island, islands off the BC coast and in northern BC, where shipping may be an art form, to receive purchases at a reasonable cost.
      Clients can advise other forms of transport to be used.
      A Canada Post example that may help you compare is - 1 Kg Canada post shipment costing $17.80 for postage and the Canada Post bubble pack plastic envelope for it is a $2.99 charge. Total $20.79 to ship 1 Kg. Plus: 1)Items can be tight wrapped with that kind of envelope, so no additional packing costs. 2) Insurance of up to $100 is also included in these costs. and 3) A tracking number to follow delivery is also included in these costs.
  • To assure our web clients stay regular happy clients we check and select the freshest items available, for them.
  • Other coupons, promotional discounts or credits will be applied up to invoice value or left as credits, instead of offered as cash values. They can be used up to the value of any future orders.
